| From QM to TQM (Total
Quality Management) - this is the path, which the
Hardening Plant Reese in Bochum has committed itself to taking
and which it will at the end of this year have brought to
completion. The following conversation with Klaus
Hölken, the expert responsible for quality control,
who developed and installed a new QM system
especially adapted to the needs of hardening technology,
is intended to show which goals have been set. What is the main objective that the Bochum Hardening Plants Reese views itself as pursuing with the development of its QM-System? In one sentence: Regardless of the operational stage involved errors are to be avoided at all costs and the smooth running and operation of the various process stages subjected to continual improvement. This is not just a matter of improving product quality but also of improving internal operations. |
How is this process of
continuous improvement to be ensured? The satisfaction of customers with our services and of employees with their work is regularly checked. The evaluation of results and internal audits provide the basis for a continuous upgrading of operational procedure and performance. And what are the technical prerequisites enabling you to obtain product quality? First of all the most modern equipment technology - many process guidance systems have, for example, already been installed in the control mechanism. For the purpose of quality supervision our laboratory has at its disposal a fully automatic hardness examination station and an automatic carbon analyser to monitor and adjust the oven atmosphere. Reproducible quality is also obtained through operational and work directives that have been worked out to the last detail - and not least through the know-how of experienced colleagues. |
